this could be subject to some meditation...
but it looks like a body in which I would feel totally at ease...
and by the way, this is a SANJI - in my stories that is the lifeform that is, no, was, our competitor for the dominion of the galaxy. Now that I have found the form, I can start to design their physiology; it is in any case evolved from an oxygen breathing land-dwelling octopoide.

Re: self - image ?
Thu, December 8, 2005 - 4:10 AMMade a quick inventory of what I need to design a new lifeform. If I just use earth's biochemical model (and why not, after all , Turing should apply also to electrochemical state machines, or living cells), then all what is missing from my personal library is the principle of the homeomorphism - the bit of software that tells our cells to form such and such bodies.
I needed that part anyway for something else anyway. -

Re: self - image ?
Thu, December 8, 2005 - 6:22 AMI LOVE the idea of assembling another life form...and you have all the knowledge to do it correctly...you know, a *working* model...Let me know what your final aresult is!!! -

Re: self - image ?
Thu, December 8, 2005 - 11:28 AMI don't have all the knowledge to do it, only the knowledge to set the process up, to define what should be done and in what order.
In technical terms: I could draw the process flow diagram, guide and lead the design team, but I could not do the detailed design, the work itself.
And we should better pay more attention to the sentient beings that exist all around us, instead of making new forms.
also, Turing tells us that it is a futile exercise. They would see the world through other filters, other paradigms, that's all. Same world, same life-essence.
well, must run. have a keystone to find.
